Meet Eco-warrior DK – our sustainable non-superwash yarn.

70% Bluefaced Leicester/30% Tencel – 250m per 100g. 

I love working with this plump, drapey, environmentally friendly yarn. Helen at Woolly Chic designed it, Laxtons in the UK spun it, and I have now hand-dyed it.  I have created several sweet, fruity, limited edition colours that look good enough to eat. I won't be redyeing these, so once they're gone, they're gone!   

So, what makes it so special?

• Bluefaced Leicester is one of my favourite wools to work with. It's soft, and has a beautiful texture and shine.  The BFL in this yarn is of 100% British origin. 
• Tencel is one of the few manmade fibres that I work with, because it's made using a closed system. These systems don't release any pollution into the environment, and they reuse valuable water to reduce the environmental impact of production. It is made from quick-growing woods like eucalyptus, which are easily replacable, and make the ideal material. Tencel is strong and beautifully soft, adding drape to the already sumptuous wool. 

This yarn contains wool that has not been superwash treated, so use a wool cycle if washing in a machine. I advise gentle handwashing to keep your projects looking gorgeous for years to come.
