This product is a knitting pattern for a simple cowl.
Helical Happiness is a simple knitted cowl featuring a repeating tuck-stitch pattern, which creates a continuous helix around the cowl. The pattern is simple and easy to knit, but has enough variation to keep you interested. It's a one-skein knitting pattern for DK or aran yarn that knits up really quickly, so is perfect for last-minute gifts.
Techniques used:
- i-cord bind-off and applied i-cord edging
- provisional cast on
- tuck stitches (similar to brioche stitches)
- knitting in the round
I wrote this pattern for 2 different yarn weights: Aran and DK. It works beautifully in either, and the simple stitch pattern really shows off hand-dyed yarn. It's perfect for those skeins you're just not sure what to do with!
The pictures show the cowl in Toasty Aran (BFL/alpaca) and Oh So Fine! DK (BFL/silk). It would work really well in any worsted, aran or DK weight yarn, but the samples are made using these two and I love how they turned out.
The pattern uses exactly 1 x 100g skein of yarn, but you can use more if you like!
Aran gauge: 14 sts x 16 rows = 10cm/4in using 5mm circular needles
DK gauge: 16 sts x 22 rows = 10cm/4in using 4mm circular needles
When you purchase, you'll receive a PDF download of the pattern.
