This is a beautiful blend of British Shetland and Cheviot wool with alpaca. It’s soft, crimpy and has a slight halo, thanks to the alpaca. Both alpaca and Shetland are beautifully warm, so whatever you make with this it will keep you cosy and toasty. Shetland and Cheviot are both very resilient wools, so this blend is perfect for things like socks and mittens. Shetland especially has fantastic water resistant properties, so it would also make for great hats to wear in wintry snow. It would also make wonderful sweaters!
I can easily wear this blend next to my skin, but it might be slightly too coarse for those sensitive to wool.
This colourway was inspired by wintry walks near my mother’s house in Yorkshire. No matter how bereft the trees are of leaves, and how grey the sky may be, the pale lichen and squishy moss are still happily living slowly on the rocks and dry stone walls.
