Description
Eri silk, also known as peace silk or ahimsa silk, is produced by the ailanthus silk moth. It produces a gorgeous fibre that lies somewhere between tussah silk and mulberry silk in texture. It has Mulberry’s characteristic shine, but has a slight unevenness that resembles tussah silk. Its fibres are shorter than mulberry silk because the moths hatch before the cocoons are processed. It’s absolutely beautiful to spin, and can also be used in felting and weaving projects.
